In an online class, at the end, the teacher was giving tips for better understanding One of the students said “this particular concept is difficult for me to learn, I have gone through it thrice”. The teacher replied, “read it loud to yourself, you will get it”.
“The read it aloud “tip intrigued me. I looked it up and found established research findings about it. I always thought silent reading is the norm. I thought reading it aloud is an old-world thing, or limited to bedtime stories and performances. But I was wrong. There are so many benefits from reading aloud and an easy practical simple method to adapt. I thought it would be interesting to bring it to the notice of qv woman.

After seeing the links in the write up “Read Aloud” by @vibgyor it was heartening to see this concept being promoted. This indeed was the method to groom students in my time. Our teachers said it improves memorizing, spelling, listening skills, imagination and diction.

Online learning is no easy thing. Yet to be tested. The future of a whole new generation is dependent on it. So, along with it if some time-tested practice can be adopted as an add on why not? It is a beneficial thing.
In this connection, I came across one more interesting article. In it, the author Michael Rosin says how even adults can benefit by being read to. I have given the link below:
