The brainchild of artists Pete and Sue Hill, Green Women are made of mud and grass, like much of the brother-sister duos creations (mostly they use mud, plants, steel and mosaic).
I have seen this at the Heligan gardens in the UK, but I assume the Green Women sculptures can be replicated anywhere as long as the weather is supportive and materials available. Not sure how one would attribute copyright to the original sculptors!
I find these sculptures oddly relaxing and sad...I keep thinking one day I will make something similar but small in my own tiny garden...hmmm...better to have a goal than just say oooh and aaaah and move on, right? At least it motivated me to write about it and tell others about this...
Just search for Green Women or Mud Maids, you'll find plenty of hits. Pinterest has loads of hits...
See more about the artist duo here.
This post brought memories of the Straw Sculpture competition entries at Mt Morris in Illinois in 2018. of course these exhibits are temporary. These photos were taken by me.
